Former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson testified Wednesday at 10 a.m. in front of the House Intelligence Committee as it continues its ongoing investigation into possible Russia interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential elections.
House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy is wondering why Johnson wouldn’t do more to address the Russian election. Jeh Johnson said that it was a problem before the 2016 election.
Before that, Johnson released a 6-page prepared statement Tuesday evening that praises the Committee’s investigation and calls out Russian President Vladimir Putin for orchestrating cyberattacks with the direct purpose of influencing the 2016 election.
“On Election Day, DHS assembled a crisis-response team to rapidly address any reported cyber intrusions into the election process. To my current knowledge, the Russian government did not through any cyber intrusion alter ballots, ballot counts or reporting of election results.
I am not in a position to know whether the successful Russian government-directed hacks of the DNC and elsewhere did in fact alter public opinion and thereby alter the outcome of the presidential election.” – this is what Johnson said that will testify.
Johnson led DHS amid Russian cyberattacks against the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman John Podesta, as well as attacks against state election databases last year. Also, he advised states on how to keep safe themselves ahead of the election on Nov. 8.
According to our source, Liberty Writers, Johnson testified about Russia in the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday.
During the testimony, Trey Gowdy asserted the next: “ Russia is a career offender when it comes to attacking the foundations of our Republic.
They have a history of cyber attacks on our country. You warned before the elections that they may attack our voting infrastructure. After the election, President Obama took steps to target Russia.”
“Given what we knew before the election, what more could we have done and should we have done? We weren’t surprised Russia was doing this to us–they always do it to us!” he added.
However, Johnson didn’t tell anyone the specific steps that he would have taken is all he said. “Hindsight is brilliant. Hindsight is 20/20.”
Help Trey Gowdy get this out there. The Democrats must get exposed for their crimes!
