For quite some time lately, things between Senator John McCain and his representing party haven’t been going very smooth.
This past week, the Senator went even further in his words and actions against Presdient Trump’s administration and team.
Our source Conservative Post reports that last Tuesday the Senator John McCain announced that the Senate Armed Services Committee will possibly postpone President Trump’s nominees for defense positions. The reason lies in the unsatisfaction with the proclamation that the Army is planning to offer abdication possibilities for recruits with mental health conditions. After the Army lifted the prohibition, which means that even people with bipolar disorders, depression, drug and alcohol abuse etc would be allowed to request the waivers, Senator McCain’s words made his oppose opinion very clear, especially this Tuesday.
“It’s a problem we’ve been having with this administration. We should have been told about this before it showed up in a USA Today article. The Army did not respond to a question of how many waivers, if any, have been issued since the policy was changed.” – claims the Senator, according to Business Insider. Also, the Senator has postponed the nomination process prior to this.
On the other hand, the USA Today reports a story on this field, but with a different perspective. A spokesman for the Army reported to USA Today that the availability of more medical information let “Army officials to better document applicant medical histories.” With this new information on their hands, the Army could take a better picture of the “whole person” when having a case with a waiver in consideration.
After this, Army officials deliberated and concluded that they’re not loosening the recruitment criteria, but that the level was lowered so that waivers for possible recruits were approved, by chance.
A recruiter of the Army announced that “Just because they say they are opening it up doesn’t mean they will let anyone in.”
Do you think there’s a right or wrong attitude in this case? What would you say, if you were able to take a part in this debate?
