On Sunday night, a shooter starting firing an automatic weapon into a crowd below that was attending a country music festival. They were there to have a good time with friends and listen to music. Instead, it turned into absolute horror. After all was said and done, at least 59 people died and hundreds more were severely injured.
Of those injured came Thomas Gunderson.
Then came Wednesday, the day that President Donald Trump and Melania went to Las Vegas to meet with victims. That is when they came to find Gunderson in the hospital laying on his hotel bed. The next thing that happened was put on Facebook and it is not something that he will soon forget.
The caption of the video says: “I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand! There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!”
This sounds like a man that has his priorities in order. This is a far cry from what is happening over there in the NFL. The players that are getting paid millions of dollars a year to play a game and do not even show their country respect.
But Thomas knows what being an American is all about. That is why he decided to go through with this in the way that he did. It is always good to respect the President of the United States, regardless of political ties.
The mainstream media could take some notes from this man. He was shot in the leg and still stood when he had the opportunity to shake the president’s hand. This is a powerful showing of respect for Trump and Melania.
In the fact of evil always comes stories of heroics. And though this might be a different kind, it is no different. We can always learn from those that have it worse than us. That is what these NFL players need to learn very soon.
